Important limits on the use of cidrcalculator.net.

Last updated: May 26, 2026
Please read this Disclaimer carefully before using cidrcalculator.net. By using the Service you acknowledge and accept the limits described here.

1. "As is" — no warranty

The Service, including all calculators, tools, generated PDFs, CSV exports, Infrastructure-as-Code outputs, diagrams, and educational content, is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

We make no warranties regarding:

  • Accuracy, completeness, or correctness of calculations
  • Suitability for any particular purpose or use case
  • Compatibility with any specific cloud provider, software version, or hardware
  • Uninterrupted availability or freedom from defects
  • Security from intrusion, malware, or data loss

2. Not professional advice

cidrcalculator.net is a technical aid, not a substitute for:

  • Professional network engineering judgment
  • Certified network architects' recommendations
  • Your organization's network policies and standards
  • Your cloud provider's documentation and best practices
  • Legal, compliance, security, or regulatory advice

Decisions about network design, security architecture, IP allocation, peering arrangements, and similar matters should be made in consultation with qualified professionals familiar with your specific environment, requirements, and risk profile.

3. User responsibility for verification

You are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying every calculation result before applying it to any system
  • Cross-checking outputs against authoritative sources (IANA, RFCs, your cloud provider's documentation)
  • Testing generated Infrastructure-as-Code in non-production environments first
  • Reviewing all subnet designs with your network team before deployment
  • Ensuring that designs comply with your organization's security and compliance requirements
  • Validating IPv6 calculations particularly carefully (IPv6 edge cases are easier to get wrong)

4. Network changes carry risk

Network configuration changes — including subnet redesigns, new VPC peering, route table updates, NACL modifications, and similar — can have significant operational, security, and financial consequences. Potential impacts include but are not limited to:

  • Service outages and downtime
  • Security incidents and unauthorized access
  • Loss of customer-facing functionality
  • Compliance violations
  • Increased operational costs
  • Loss of data
  • Reputational damage

Use change management practices, peer review, and staged deployments. The fact that a calculation is mathematically correct does not mean it is appropriate for your environment.

5. Cloud-specific outputs

Cloud-aware features (AWS VPC mode, Azure VNet mode, GCP VPC mode, OCI mode) reflect documented behavior of each provider as of the date of last update. Cloud providers change their behavior over time. Reserved IP counts, minimum subnet sizes, gateway requirements, and similar rules may evolve. Always verify against the current provider documentation before deployment.

6. Infrastructure-as-Code outputs

Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, Pulumi, ARM, CDK, Ansible, Kubernetes manifests, and other generated code:

  • Are templates intended as a starting point, not production-ready code
  • May not include all options, security hardening, or organizational standards your environment requires
  • Should be reviewed by an engineer familiar with the target IaC tool
  • Should be tested in a non-production account or workspace first
  • May not reflect the latest provider API versions or breaking changes
  • Do not include monitoring, logging, IAM policies, encryption settings, or other security controls beyond what is shown

7. AI assistant outputs

The AI assistant feature, where available, generates network designs based on natural-language descriptions. AI-generated content:

  • May contain errors, inaccuracies, or hallucinations
  • Should be reviewed line-by-line before use
  • Is not a substitute for thinking through your specific requirements
  • Does not understand your organization's specific context, history, or constraints

8. Educational content

Tutorials, blog articles, quiz questions, glossary entries, and other educational content on cidrcalculator.net are for general informational purposes. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Educational content may be simplified for clarity and may omit edge cases
  • Examples are illustrative, not prescriptive
  • Certification exam content can change; use this content alongside official exam prep materials
  • Standards evolve; some content may not reflect the latest RFCs or vendor practices

9. Generated PDF and CSV documents

PDF and CSV exports include the disclaimer text on the document itself for ongoing reference. You agree not to remove the disclaimer from generated documents.

These documents are snapshots at the moment of generation. Networks and standards may change. Re-generate documents periodically to ensure currency.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall cidrcalculator.net, its operators, employees, affiliates, contractors, or partners be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

  • Network outages or service interruptions
  • Security incidents or data breaches
  • Loss of revenue, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity
  • Loss of data
  • Cost of substitute services
  • Regulatory fines or penalties

This limitation applies whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, statute, or any other legal theory, and regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. The full limitation language is in our Terms of Service.

11. Third-party content

The Service may link to or display content from third parties (advertising, blog post references, external documentation links). We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party content. Your interactions with third parties are solely between you and them.

12. Affiliate disclosure

Some links on the Service may be affiliate or referral links. If you click and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This does not influence our recommendations.

13. No professional relationship

Use of the Service does not create any professional, fiduciary, consulting, advisory, or other relationship between you and cidrcalculator.net or its operators. You are responsible for evaluating whether the outputs meet your needs.

14. Errors and corrections

We try to keep the Service accurate. If you find an error in a calculation, educational article, or generated output, please report it to contactus@cidrcalculator.net. We may correct errors at any time without notice.

15. Acceptance

By using the Service, downloading any output, or relying on any content, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted this Disclaimer in full.
